Meet the new darling Humanitarian, the shining light from the East, the Mask behind MAF.

About Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF).

Maurice Akueme Foundation is a UK based non profit organization which is registered with the corporate affairs commission in Nigeria.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation is aimed at three major focal points of alleviating, palliating and empowering the suffering, less privileged, old and weary towards poverty eradication in Africa with plans of expanding arms to the whole world.

The founder's desire was borne out of his desire to heal the world and make it a better place for all.

Currently established and working in Nigeria and Uganda, the foundation supports orphanages and homes of the old, the foundation has successfully set up food banks in rural communities and also visits the sick and elderly taking responsibility of medical bills and providing them with essential commodities.

Maurice Akueme Foundation provides support for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps only, but to name two; Abagana and Daudu IDP camps in Benue state are currently being heavily leveraged by the foundation.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) runs a non profit tailoring centre in Calabar, Cross river state where free training in tailoring and fashion and design is provided to basically the orphans and the less privileged, especially children, they are trained for 18 months after which they'll be empowered to become independent.

There are currently over 15 students who have been enrolled to learn and graduate in 18 months after which they will be empowered to become independent and train many others in the course of practicing independence which will further extend the luck and smile provided by Maurice Akueme Foundation to unknown persons who were never reached directly by the foundation, this act I describe as "chain empowerment.

Maurice Akueme Foundation also runs a full time scholarship programme with a number of beneficiaries only, but to mention Ebeke Ifunanya Joseph (who goes by the Facebook name " Destiny Destino").

Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) had on the 13th of February, 2020 offered scholarship to Ebeke Ifunanya Joseph to study Arts (sculpture) at the yaba polytechnic Lagos, this came with a cash award of N 25,000 (twenty five thousand naira) after Joseph presented a beautiful painting of the foundation's president Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme which he showcased during the recent dedication and opening of Maurice Akueme's head office in Enugu state. The beneficiary master Ebeke is an old boy of the college of Immaculate heart Conception Enugu and hails from Amudara village, Ochina in Igboetiti local government area of Enugu State.

The foundation appreciates, encourages talent, entrepreneurial spirit and grant small businesses with soft loans.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) have been at the battle front on the prevention of coronavirus disease since its outbreak, MAF has put smiles on the faces of thousands in Nigeria both within and outside Enugu state to curb the outbreak that maybe caused by hunger and to prevent the deadly virus, bringing smiles on people's faces, it has gone into various communities to sensitize the people and support them with medical facilities, relief materials and palliatives with cash support and food stuffs such as yam, noodles, rice, etc.

Only to mention but a few, The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) has distributed over 1,000 bottles of Sanitizers, gloves and face masks customized with the MAF.

The foundation has given out the cash value to over 100 indigent and most vulnerable families in Ukana and Awhum communities in the Udi local government area with each family receiving at least N5, 000, while N100, 000 donation was made to the Nachi community in the Udi local government area.

The Maurice Akueme Foundation team on covid-19 have also donated food stuffs worth hundred of thousands to indigent and most vulnerable families in Awgu, Oji river and Nenwe with plans underway to visit Affa, Ezeagu and some other local governments in Enugu State and beyond.

Just recently, the Maurice Akueme Foundation has leveraged the disabled by identifying them and issuing them wheelchairs with capital to start up a business, offset bills for eye tests and surgeries, and currently, free distribution of face shields is ongoing to contribute to life longevity.

Many beneficiaries in their belief decides to join the foundation by also blessing people and touching lives as they have been blessed thereby referring themselves as MAFites which indicates the follower or fan of Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) because the mask behind MAF believes in "leverage others when you're leveraged", " alleviate others when alleviated", "Palliate others when palliated", "empower others when empowered".

On 29th June, 2020 while celebrating his birthday, the founder and president Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) donated ICT resource centre, food bank to Ukana communities in the Udi local government area and has embarked on another project on the school building.

It is worth knowing that as at 17th of July, 2020, this food bank was loaded with different food stuffs (cartons of noodles, crates of eggs, bags of rice, tubers of yams, etc.), also currently running free Npower registration at 9th miles, Zik avenue, Obiagu, etc., thereby saving cost for many Nigerians.

The Unveiling

Unveiling the man behind the mask comes should we say or we may use the following titles "humanitarian", "cheerful giver", " gem", "Samaritan", " Mensch", " saint", "philanthropist"- Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme.

All these titles have turned out to even gain more value than being a Chief or even HRH/M, His excellency without impacting positively on the people.

Humanitarian Akueme grew up basically in an academic environment cum setting with strict parents to academic and skill excellence. However, according to Akueme's pattern or way of life as evidenced in his ideology, it takes more than just academics and education to be successful and entrepreneurial, this is a lesson to parent; To teach their wards and children how to be entrepreneurial from their young age, this will help them to be more sufficient and independent and as well philanthropic in times of need.

Mr. Akueme is an ardent supporter of high quality leadership, Human rights and equality fanatic, a due process fanatic and an unflinching supporter of respect for the rule of law. He is a sport lover, which has reflected in his activities in the MAF where he has sponsored many youth oriented sporting activities, especially football competitions, one of which was tagged "The annual Ukana Inter-village football competition" with the aim of discovering new football talents for further empowerment.

Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme born 29th June, 1975 from the Udi local government area of Enugu State, southeastern part of Nigeria is a seasoned and experienced leader, served his country via the compulsory one year NYSC 1998 - 1999, lectured in the federal polytechnic Ede, Osun State - 2000. He became branch operations manager, GT Bank 2000 - 2005, financial controller, Running Bare Group (UK) 2006 - 2009 and from 2009 to date Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme is the managing director, Mexol Accounting Solutions (UK).

Maurice Emeka Akueme, being a philanthropist have touched the lives of many especially the downtrodden, the old, the orphans and the most vulnerable especially at this time of temptation. There are still goal getters, silent achievers who never wanted their names to be heard, Emeka is however one of them from Southeast who has impacted positively on the lives of people from the south east, southsouth, north central, northeast, Uganda, South Africa with plans to move farther, with his many silent goals.

Let's crown it all with these words from Chief Sir Emeka Odenigwe "MAF is probably the only organization, foundation or outfit, outside the State Government, that thinks & acts for the forgotten among us.

MAF, exhibited proactive leadership in helping out and reaching out. We call on others to assist.

Let us not forget our teachers & their families, both private or public.

Sir Maurice Emeka Akueme is a man who has been going about doing good in the most silent manner but as the popular saying goes "a gold fish has no hiding place", " aka e kpuchi ônwa", etc, we can't continue to hide good deeds because our society is known for projecting evil but changing the narratives now with bringing to the world good deeds might even serve some person access to become beneficiaries of good deed.

If 4 other persons can emulate this man, Enugu state will be a better place where everything is not left for the government of the state alone, the development is everybody's responsibility.
