The honourable member representing Enugu west in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Hon Comrade Ogbuefi Esther made it a point of duty to empower the girls of her community and local government on the occasion of the international day of the girl child in a two days empowerments program organized by the youth parliamentarian.
The program which took place on Sunday (11th October 2020) at St Mary Catholic church Akama Oghe and on Monday (12th October 2020) at most girls secondary schools in Ezeagu saw Hon Esther share relief materials such as Pad, Tissue, Soap and other materials to the young girls in her local government Ezeagu. Hon Esther and her team also seized the opportunity to lecture the young girls on personal hygiene, career development, self awareness, importance of life goals and many other things.
She also granted a scholarship award to one of the girls who was very active during the program. She further express that she feel happy as a woman when women are leading and making a difference. She thanked partners of the program chikelubaofoedu foundation and Prince obiesie for sponsoring the program. She also thanked the executive governor of Enugu state Rt.Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his continued support to the girl child.
The Parish Priest of St Mary Catholic Church Rev Fr Uwguoke thanked the young parliamentarian for deeming it fit to celebrate the day with them and also gave her, blessings and prayed for her and her team. They also went on a Thanksgiving at the church to thank God for this year day of the girl child.
On Monday being 12th, Hon Esther and her team moved to different secondary school in Ezeagu local government to complete their two days program. At Sedes Sapiential Girls Secondary School Oghe, Hon Esther made it known that she will always support the dreams and aspiration of the girl child while the Principal of the school who is a Catholic Rev Sister took time to appreciate her for coming and also stressed on the rights of a girl child.
One of the girls Miss kosachukwu Nwankwo thanked Hon Esther and her team while pleading for them to continue doing more for the girl child.
