This is a writeup from Ekene Ugwuanyi, he narrated the evil/problem we face today in Nigeria because of the colonial master. And according to him, he believes that the colonial masters has done more harm than good to the people of Africa, especially Nigerians.
This post was gotten from his WhatsApp status where he was saying his mind about the problems we inherited from the colonial master. We later gave him back the post to edit before posting it here.. I believe the below post is very very important to us all that is why i hustled to get it published on this blog.

EKENE UGWUANYI ON EDUCATION AND MONEY
We're still talking about money.I want to liberate you from the rope where the white man has tied our neck and draw us about like goats. What you are about to read might be difficult to understand, therefore grab your calculator to recalculate as you wish.
The white man did us an evil thing based on the educational system they brought to us. I want to address this issue tonight to enable us pull off from this slavery.
Imagine someone graduated with first class and then it happened he was not retained. 10 years later, he is still seen working for somebody and is proud being paid 50k monthly.
Some graduates are comfortable receiving monthly salary of 30k because there's NO JOB. This is not funny. Now we have many frustrated graduates who are somewhat useless to their parents.
I am sorry for using the word USELESS but after your parents have finished spending on you from nursery school until you finished from higher institution and you have not started 'seeing' them at least three years after your graduation, honestly, na fuck up.

What then is the problem?
Your problem is that school you attended. Ekene, how?Well let me explain. You need to know what is education itself. To be educated does not mean you are able to read and write. That one is called 'literacy.' "Education simply means the acquisition of knowledge for a better living on earth."(Ekene Ugwuanyi).

If you are educated, it means that if people are complaining of bad economy, you are there smiling because you have been exposed on how to survive and how to create wealth.
Am I communicating?
We are taking it one after the other.
As I told you, education is different from literacy. If you can read what I write, then you are already literate. But education is far from that.
Before the coming of the white man to Africa, we had what we called 'pre-colonial African education.'That one was modeled after our environment, after our culture, according to the need of the Africans. Then the white man made us throw everything away.
Let us then quote Walter Rodney in his book, "HOW EUROPE UNDERDEVELOPED AFRICA."
Make sure you get a copy of that book in the market after today.
Walter Rodney said, and I quote:
"Indeed, the most crucial aspect of 'pre-colonial' African education was its RELEVANCE to Africans, in sharp contrast with what was later introduced. The following 'features of indigenous African education can be considered outstanding: its close links with social life, both in a material and spiritual sense; its collective nature; its many-sidedness; and its progressive development in conformity with the successive stages of physical, emotional and mental development of your child. There was no separation of education and productive activity or any division between manual and intellectual education. Altogether, it the realities of African society.

You see, when I was a child even this precolonial African education lingered.
We were taught to weave baskets and make money; to climb the oil bean tree, process the seeds and sell such to the market; to weave flat palm mat used in the kitchen (opepe); some constructed canoe, others were carving out hoes etc. In all these, service to the society and monetary reward was the outcome. In other words, TANGIBLE and productive services were rendered  that attracted monetary reward.
By then, myself, Abel Ugwuanyi, Chinedu Odo, Ofoma Ezenwowo etc. were already buying Christmas clothes for ourselves. As Christmas reached, we simply handed the money over to our mothers.
Then, everybody had something productive to offer to the society from whatever education received and then monetary rewards follow. Even the native medicine men who received their education in that regard cured many sicknesses and strange ailments were then rewarded with monetary values and gifts.

They helped to tackle premature deaths, ogbanje saga, divination etc.
Everybody was trained to offer something and make money. There was nothing like waiting for something called 'Government' to find you something to do before you could make money.
All were self-independent.
Then, THE WHITE MAN CAME.
Do you know what the white man said when he came and had studied us?
Look at what Lord Macaulay said
.........The Quote............
The colonizers did not introduce education into Africa: they introduced a new set of formal educational institutions which partly supplemented and partly replaced those which were there before.
The main purpose of the colonial school system was to train Africans to help man the local administration at the lowest ranks and to private capitalist firms owned by Europeans.
In effect, that meant selecting a few Africans to participate in the domination and exploitation of the continent as a whole.
It was not an educational system that grew out of the African environment or one that was designed to promote the most rational use of material and social resources.
It was not designed to give young people confidence and pride as members of African societies, but one which sought to instil a sense of deference towards all that was European and capitalist.
Education in Europe was dominated by the capitalist class. The same class bias was automatically transferred to Africa; and to make matters worse, the racism and cultural boastfulness harboured by capitalism were also included in the package of colonial education.
No wonder they told us Mungo Park discovered River Niger; as if the Africans he met along the bank during his exploration were animals and not humans.
Then we chanted it in our current affairs: MUNGO PARK DISCOVERED RIVER NIGER. That was one of the many lies the colonial education made us believe about ourselves.

And how much do you think the white collar job can fetch you?Now let's do some calculations.
Do you know that some pure water hawkers and road side food vendors earn more than a lot of graduates working for federal government?
Do you know that some drivers earn more than bankers? Do you know that some tanker drivers might earn more than some oil company workers?
Let's divide the average salary of the white collar job workers by 30 days and see the outcome (the numbers of days in a month) and see the funny thing about the salary plans.
Are you there with me?
AVERAGE LEVEL 12 WORKER
An average level -12 worker in the state government civil service earns about N60,000 monthly.
Daily income:
N60,000/30 days = N2,000 everyday
This is less than the amount realized as profit by some ROADSIDE FOOD VENDORS (Mama -put) in cities on a daily basis.

FRESHLY EMPLOYED GRADUATE IN A BANK
A freshly EMPLOYED GRADUATE BANKER in most Nigerian banks earn an average of about N120,000 monthly.
Daily income:
N120,000/30 days = N4,000
This is LESS THAN the amount earned DAILY by some commercial DRIVERS in the cities, even "KEKE NAPEP DRIVERS."

FRESH GRADUATE EMPLOYED IN AN OIL COMPANY
Some oil companies' employees earns an AVERAGE of N300,000 monthly.
Daily income:
N300,000/30 days =N10,000.
This is less than the daily amount earn by IRRIGATION FARMER supplying vegetables to some places in Lagos or Abuja, a TIPPER VEHICLE DRIVER supplying sand for three BLOCK INDUSTRIES and CONSTRUCTION SITE just three times a day and DRIVERS OF DANGOTE TRUCKS who have bought of the trucks at scrap value..
...and are using them to transport products between villages and the cities for just five business owners.

MOST AMAZING OF ALL. I am involved in this one:
NYSC (Corps members)
Daily income
N19,800/30 days =N660
At this stage, you should be able to guess those who earn more than corps members. Some PURE WATER HAWKERS, ROADSIDE ROASTED YAM/PLANTAIN VENDORS earn more than N660 on a daily basis. Same applies to many professionals which graduates look down upon.Guess it is now sinking in right or you doubt your calculator?Funny enough, when financial assistance is needed within the family, the DRIVERS, HAWKERS and the likes look up to the Almighty WHITE COLLAR JOB WORKERS to pick the bill. What am I trying to communicate?Let's wake up and be more productive.Let's mount less pressure on white collar jobs.No work should be seen as dirty, undoable or shit job.Let's create room for more income and strive to diversify our streams of income. You do not need certificate to do some jobs. Let's make use of our INITIATIVE.

Let's stop waiting for the GOVERNMENT to create jobs for us.
Let's create jobs for ourselves and help the government create jobs for others.
EMPOWER YOURSELF
FIRE YOURSELF
FIRE YOUR FUTURE BOSS
AND BECOME YOUR OWN BOSS.
